Speech Language Pathology in Motion is a private practice offering Speech and Language Evaluations and Speech Therapy Services. We are able to incorporate a variety of specialized treatment strategies including Equine Movement/Hippotherapy, Equine Assisted Therapy and PROMPT Therapy into our patients speech therapy treatment plans. We also offer a number of Speech & Language Enrichment Groups. We are committed to providing our patients and their families with the highest quality Speech-Language Pathology services.
Our services are delivered in a family friendly, motivating, enriching and natural environment. Intervention plans consider the varying learning styles, fine and gross motor abilities, sensory needs, cognative abilities, and perceptual abilities of each patient in order to maximize therapeutic outcomes and help each patient to meet their therapy goals.
We have the opportunity to collaborate with on site occupational and physical therapists, and for patients who are also receiving services with Occupational Therapy in Motion or Physical Therapy in Motion we offer a transdisciplinary team approach to treatment. Co-treatments are also available.
Because speech is not just about what occurs in the mouth, movement, sensory experiences and play are incorporated into all of our speech therapy sessions. Movement and sensory experiences are utilized to heighten body awareness and improve the postural stability needed for accurate phonation and dissociation of the articulators. Speech is a complex motor task. In order to move effectively, our sensory and motor systems must be working properly. Movement and sensory based activities can be used to improve sensory integration, head, neck and trunk control, postural stability, and motor planning. Children and adults with sensory processing difficulties often have difficulty attending to and appropriately using speech and language. Engaging the motor and sensory systems helps to improve organization and regulation of the sensory systems, creating improved attention skills and allowing the patient to be organized for learning and for working on speech therapy goals. Click here to learn more about why we incorporate sensory and motor activities into our sessions.
Our patients respond well to movement activities and games incorporated into treatment in the clinic. Patients receiving Hippotherapy as part of their treatment plan also reap the benefits of Equine Movement. Have a question about our services? Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page.
