Intensive Therapy program

Pool used during intensive speech therapy program

What is an intensive speech therapy program?

An intensive therapy program is typically 1 to 3 weeks long, and consists of daily speech therapy sessions with a focus on 2 to 3 main goals. The sessions provide repeated practice across contexts to allow for faster progress in a condensed time frame.

We often incorporate time indoors and outdoors into our intensive therapy packages, allowing for repeated practice across a variety of contexts. This promotes faster progress on goals, and more importantly, generalization of any new skills acquired beyond the therapy room.

Intensive packages are available upon request, subject to availability. To inquire, please contact our office at at Info@speechinmotion.com or book a free phone consultation to learn more.

Who can benefit from an intensive program?

Clients of all ages can benefit from an intensive treatment program. We recommend considering doing an intensive:

  • For clients with significant speech, language or feeding difficulties.
  • During times when progress seems slow or stagnant.
  • During a growth spurt, to maximize gains.
  • During times when rapid improvement is needed.
  • Following new onset or new diagnosis of a speech or language difficulty.
  • During times when schools are closed.
  • When the client is identified as having a motor speech disorder, including childhood apraxia of speech.
  • Following introduction of a new AAC system.
  • For clients who respond well to repeated practice.
