When you imagine occupational and speech therapy, a horse usually isn’t in the picture. But at Speech in Motion and Occupational Therapy in Motion, barnyard animals are an integral part of the process.
“It is very different from the therapists that we worked with prior to starting here,” Kelly said. “After Brendan’s diagnosis, you’re kind of thrown into what approach to take with therapy. It wasn’t until we came here and worked with this team of therapists that it was child-centered. It’s recognizing the child that’s in front of you and not just a goal that you want them to meet.”

Islandia, NY Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. announced that Tina M. Rocco M.A. CCC-SLIP, HPCS, a well-respected speech language pathologist has been recognized by the American Hippotherapy Association as the recipient of The Barbara Glasow Therapist of the Year Award for 2019. Rocco’s practice, Speech Language Pathology in Motion, utilizes uses interactions with horses, equine movement (hippotherapy) and the farm environment at Pal-O-Mine within its speech therapy sessions to support a variety of speech and language goals.

Rocco M.A. CCC-SLP, HPCS appeared in "Long Island Business News" in recognition of her receiving the 2019 American Hippotherapy Association Barbara Glasow Therapist of the Year award. The award was presented at the American Hippotherapy Association international conference in Lexington KY on March 23rd, 2019. The Barbara Glasow Therapist of Year Award is intended to recognize the exceptional achievements of therapists who utilize hippotherapy as a treatment tool within their practice.

Combining a Passion for Speech Therapy and Horses Molloy College Alumna Tina M. Rocco Brings Hope and Help to Children and Families:
While Tina M. Rocco, BS ('05), MA CCC-SLP, HPCS, was a student at Molloy College, she was on the equestrian team, was the team captain in 2004-05, and qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Finals, and went on to receive an MA in speech-language pathology. In 2011 Tina combined her passion for speech pathology and horses and opened her private practice Speech Language Pathology in Motion.
